Sunset will be celebrated with a conch
horn contest.
Throughout the Caribbean
, sunset in the anchorages
is heralded with the (sometimes) melodious tone of conch horns being
blown. Sunset in Sarasota
will also be celebrated
this evening with a conch horn contest and a bottle of “Fire
In De Hole, the Bahamas
Erotic Rum” awarded as first prize
for the closest to a melodious tone.
Periodic cannon
fire will announce Pisco toasts.
“Pisco is the national spirit of
Peru
”. “Pisco is the national
spirit of Chile
.” “No
Peru
.” “No
Chile
.” “
Peru
!” “
Chile
!” The Peruvians and the
Chileans have been going on like that for ages. It’s a struggle
over who owns a clear, oddly flavored grape brandy that some have
uncharitably compared to kerosene. Get hip to the Pisco Sour, settle
the argument, and discover who makes the best.

Red, Rum, Return
Remember that sunset, conch horn contest?
Better get practicing, you can even bring
your own, personally-tuned conch shell horn. If your pipes produce
that winning melodic tone, you’ll walk away with untold recognition,
celebrity and a rare bottle of "Fire In De Hole, The Erotic
Rum of the Bahamas
" an elixir so rare it
must be smuggled into the States, deftly hidden under the V-berth
of an unnamed sailing vessel. (That’s not a misprint, it is Erotic
not Exotic — which may explain it’s rarity.)
The lucky winner will enjoy its intensely spicy aroma, the dark
golden color, and a taste that opens warm and quickly in the palate…
Excess in Moderation
Spurious rumor hints that some Brothers
may be “partied-out” by the 1st of December. Balderdash! A Boucan
of this stature can’t be missed with weak excuses of a recent return
from the Argentine World Zaf or the proximity of the can’t-be-missed
– Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show Boucan. Buccaneers of true strength,
fortitude and endurance will demonstrate their resolve to brotherhood
and dispel such unfounded rumor!
Berth, Slip or Hotel
You’re invited to bunk with a brother
and this is the best time to claim your berth while they last —
first come/first served. Email jdalusio@tampabay.rr.com with the number in your party and any preference you
may have. A limited number of slips are available for brothers arriving
by boat. Email Ray Hutchins at jrhsiesta@msn.com with length, beam and draft of
your vessel. We will establish a "headquarters"
hotel and advise. Either way, be sure to
give us your date of arrival and departure and the number in your
party.

a request for funds will follow later.
