The lighthouse is a screw pile design, these were unique to the Chesapeake Bay in the era of manned lighthouses. The best known is Thomas Point Light just south of Annapolis. This particular one is the Drum Point Light that used to be located at the mouth of the Patuxent River (Solomons) and the Bay. It is now ashore and a signature attraction at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons

The induction ceremony for the newest table in the United States Brotherhood of the Coast was held on Saturday December 8th in Solomons, MD. Solomons is located approximately at the midpoint of the Chesapeake Bay on the Western shore. Eight Brothers were inducted in a rousing ceremony which included over (40) Brothers and their Captives from seven of the twelve US tables. (Chesapeake Bay, Florida Keys, Houston, New York, Potomac, San Antonio, Savannah)

The weekend festivities started Friday evening with a dinner and party at Bernie Dove's
(aka Snapper King from Florida Keys Table) house, who was the Sponsor for the new Solomons Island Table. After a delectable dinner of the Bay's noteworthy Rockfish (Striped Bass), the affair continued with many rum shots and cocktails, as well as reading the resumes of the new Brothers of the Solomons Island Table. The new Brothers have a variety of backgrounds including (2) retired Naval Officers, a retired Navy Doctor who worked in the Medical industry, a Waterman who now owns a seafood store, a retired Safety Officer from a Naval Air Station who is now a Charterboat captain, a Homebuilder and Charterboat captain, an Office Furniture Dealership Owner, and a retired Salesman/Manager from a Fortune 500 company.

The ceremony continued on Saturday afternoon with the majority of the Brothers and Captives arriving via the "Margie D" after a brief harbor cruise. The ceremony was opened by the new Solomons Island Table Captain, Pete Chabot (aka Sea Devil), who
thanked the attending Brothers and stated what a great introduction to the Brotherhood this has been. After eating some of the Chesapeake Bay's delicacies, the prospective brothers were then ushered out. They were reintroduced to the Attending Brothers in Full Battle Regalia and after passing the tests administered by National Captain Tom Collier (aka Ursa Major), became the newest US Brothers. The party continued throughout the evening with some Brothers riding on the "Margie D" in the annual Solomons Island Christmas Boat Parade while others enjoyed other Solomons Island Christmas events. It was a good time had by all.

The Solomons Island Table invites all traveling Brothers to stop by and see us, as we will see some of you in our travels in our initial year of the Brotherhood.
